Meet Lexi Meier

Certified Tension and Trauma Release Exercise® Provider

Hi there, welcome!

My journey to and with this embodied modality began with exploring the body in relation to movement. I graduated from Rhodes University in 2015  having completed my MA in Choreography, and observed how, by moving my body freely, my own traumas surfaced. I became fascinated by what the body holds and remembers in sensations on a deep, non-verbal level. ​Searching for tools to navigate this overwhelming terrain, I qualified as a yoga teacher in 2017 and a TRE® provider in 2018, and attended David Bercelli's (the researcher-creator of TRE®) Advanced Training in 2020. I am also a qualified Reiki practitioner. 

The TRE® process has utterly shifted my perspective on trauma and the way I relate to my embodied experience of the world and other people. My mission is to hold this healing space for others; to create a space free of judgement for people to connect deeply to their bodies and their human experience. My passion is to offer a gentle, compassionate presence for each nervous system to release in its unique way.

Why Tension and Trauma Release Exercise?

It can help with


Our nervous systems experience trauma when we find ourselves confronted with a situation where we are unable to escape imminent or perceived danger. TRE® can help our bodies let go of past traumas, and to integrate nervous system responses back to a resting state in our every day lives.


Chronic stress can create many health complications for the modern human organism. TRE® can help reduce the held stress in the body and also broaden our window of tolerance for everyday stressors. 

Fatigue & Insomnia 

Often the held tension in the nervous system is not in the foreground of our awareness. Living with these underlying sensations we often exhaust ourselves trying to function 'normally'. Restoring the system back to regulation often relieves fatigue or patterns of insomnia.

What is TRE®?

Tension and Trauma Release Exercise® is a set of movements, created by Dr David Bercelli, that allow the body's natural shaking mechanisms to kick in. Through this shaking, bouncing, quivering tremor, the nervous system can let go of - and dissipate - held tension, fight, flight and freeze responses, traumas, and the stress from everyday life. The process trains the organism to reconnect to our natural way of releasing stress and tension. 

General Wellbeing

We cannot separate the mind and body when working with the nervous system. The brain, spinal chord and all the off branching neural tissue is intimately involved in the process. In working with this body up modality, we may process emotional patterns of anxiety, depression, rage, fear, deep grief and/or shut down. In the process we work with the emotions that might surface and learn to regulate their intensity and hold space for them within us. Instead of feeling overwhelmed and at a loss, we can begin to build patterns of resilience and generally experience our humanness more comfortably.

Body Pain

TRE® can help with stubborn or chronic body pain. The process allows for the natural pulsations to travel through the fascia  (the tiny thin web of nerve tissue that runs throughout the muscles, skin and bones), breaking up stuck tension or build up and sending release messages to muscles. When practiced regularly the old muscle response can disappear and be replaced by a new sense of openness and ease.
